How professional pest control works
Professional pest control follows a clear process: inspect, treat, then follow up. A technician identifies the pest and how it's getting in, applies the right method, and returns to confirm it worked. Here's what to expect at each step.
Get Pest Brief connects you with licensed local companies. We are not a contractor and do not perform the work.
What are the four stages of treatment?
Inspect
The technician identifies the pest, finds entry points and nesting sites, and gauges how far it has spread.
Treat
They apply the method matched to that pest - targeted sprays, baits, traps, heat or exclusion - at approved rates.
Prevent
Entry points are sealed and conducive conditions (moisture, food) are flagged so the problem doesn't return.
Follow up
A return visit confirms the treatment worked, with re-treatment if pests are still active.
How do you prepare for a visit?
- Clear access to affected rooms, cupboards and baseboards.
- Put away food, dishes and pet bowls.
- Note where and when you've seen activity - it speeds up the inspection.
- Follow any extra prep instructions for bed bugs or fumigation.
